As a mother, I often find myself reflecting on the complexities of my relationship with my son, Nat. Rather than feeling the typical pride that comes with motherhood, I experience a deep admiration for his unique abilities and perspective on life. Nat's autism allows him to see the world through a lens that is refreshingly different from my own.
His extraordinary focus and passion for his interests often leave me in awe. While I struggle with the noise and chaos of daily life, he finds joy in the smallest details, immersing himself completely in what captivates him. This ability to embrace life so fully is something I find myself envious of.
In moments of frustration or confusion, I remind myself that Nat's journey is not defined by societal norms, but by his own unique experiences. This realization has shifted my perspective, allowing me to celebrate his individuality and the lessons he offers me every day.
