Members of the Social Work program and the Psychology Club at Penn State Greater Allegheny came together to participate in the annual NAMIWalks event on October 5. This initiative aimed to raise funds and awareness for mental health issues, an important cause that resonates with many students and community members.
The event attracted participants from various backgrounds, all united in their commitment to promoting mental health awareness. By walking together, they hoped to destigmatize mental health challenges and highlight the importance of seeking help. The funds raised during the walk will contribute to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), which provides support, education, and advocacy for individuals affected by mental health conditions.
The involvement of students from Penn State Greater Allegheny reflects a growing recognition of mental health as a critical aspect of overall well-being. Their participation not only demonstrates solidarity but also encourages others to engage in conversations about mental health and the resources available for those in need.
