Left-wing authoritarianism is a multidimensional construct that is gaining increasing interest in psychological research. A recent study focused on the evaluation of a new abbreviated version of the Left-Wing Authoritarianism Scale (LWA-9) among university students in Chile. This research aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the LWA-9, providing a streamlined tool for measuring left-wing authoritarian tendencies in a specific demographic.
The study involved a comprehensive psychometric analysis, including factor analysis and reliability testing, to ensure that the scale accurately captures the nuances of left-wing authoritarianism. Participants were asked to respond to a series of statements reflecting their beliefs and attitudes, allowing researchers to gauge their level of authoritarianism.
The findings indicated that the LWA-9 is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing left-wing authoritarianism among Chilean university students. This development not only contributes to the understanding of political psychology in Latin America but also provides a useful tool for future research in this area.
